Software Engineer 
Job Purpose


The Software Engineer in Test fills a critical role in the Software Quality Management program by testing software in an effort to detect problems before the software is deployed to production. This is a key position with a new and growing team, so your efforts will have a noticeable impact on both the company and product. In addition to
the requirements below, successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for high-quality software, strong engineering principles, and methodical problem-solving skills. This position provides further value with contributions to improving monitoring, alerting, and other incident/problem management activity for our service platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Production Control Management is the functional team responsible for Software Quality Management. It includes the DBA, QA, and DevOps organizational teams.
    • Coordinate cross-team testing efforts to identify software problems according to the Project Lifecycle
    • Work with developers to design, document, develop, and execute the integration, regression, and acceptance testing program for the following platforms back end processes written in C++ front end applications written in C# using .NET Framework clearing and settlement processes written in Python
    • Collaborate with developers to avoid overlap between developer-led unit testing and QA-led integration and regression testing to help design effective automated unit testing
    • Coordinate with the Project Management and Development team to understand how new features should be tested and contribute to automated tests for these new features estimate level of effort, establish priorities, plan, and provide feedback on testing status
    • Work with the DevOps Engineer, Software Deployment Engineer, and Continuous Integration project leads to guide test automation infrastructure implementation across multiple product areas
    • Expand our existing test automation framework and test coverage
    • Analyze test results to identify potential bugs and errors
    • Document results of tests for the software development team
    • Recommend improvements in software to enhance user experience
    • Motivate the development process for efficiency and performance
    • Work together with the software developer to enhance and improve programs
    • Facilitate the effort to implement Continuous Integration across development teams and within the QA team
    • Help identify areas that are ideal for automation efforts and work with Developers and the DevOps Engineer for approved projects
    • When needed, serve as a backup for the following PCM responsibilities
    • Ensure timely and accurate notification to stakeholders for any deployments and activity that requires a planned service outage
    • Use continuous service improvement philosophy to improve Project Lifecycle and Production Control processes
    • Work with stakeholders to develop detailed deployment task plans for software deployments and configuration changes in the production environment
    • Ensure that requirements for work packages that are scheduled for deployment into production are fulfilled before submitting for final change control approval
    • Use tact to engage responsible parties to complete change control requirements
    • Foster awareness of compliance and security requirements into the Production Control Management philosophy
    • Incident Response and Problem Management Under guidance from the IT Operations Manager and Director of IT, participate in incident response processes, procedures, and documentation
    • Collaborate with DevOps/Infrastructure Team to implement and improve Critical Process monitoring, alerting, and documentation
    • As new software is being developed, work with developers to ensure that logging, monitoring, and alerting are designed and implemented in an effective and consistent manner
    • Act as the lead for initiating incident reporting and coordinating follow-up activity through to resolution.
    • Execute any assigned tasks as part of the Production Control Management team
    • Conduct all efforts under company  Compliance and Payment Card Industry policies, procedures, standards, and regulations
    • Assist in training and orientation of other staff as requested
    • Maintain Subject Matter Expert status on technical and professional disciplines relevant to areas of responsibility
    • Maintain updated knowledge of industry trends and advancements
    • Research and compare similar competitor products
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience with intermediate skill level or better in
    • Enterprise-grade software engineering (C++ on Linux and C#/.NET preferred)
    • Test management, configuration management, automated testing (Cypress.io or Selenium preferred), debugging, and project management tools
    • Technical documentation and writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans
    • Linux and Windows system administration
    • Shell scripting and general purpose programming (bash, Powershell, and Python preferred)
    • Working with Version Control Software (Git preferred) and proficient in best practice workflows and methods
    • Relational database management systems and stored procedures (Oracle preferred)
    • Symmetric and asymmetric data-in-flight and data-at-rest encryption methods
    • Monitoring and alerting principles, methods, and tools
    • TCP/IP fundamentals and basic network troubleshooting
    • Working knowledge of DevOps concepts and familiarity with CI/CD tools
    • Financial Technology and/or Payment Card Industry (preferred)
  • Excellent team-oriented attitude with great communications skills, both verbal and written
