Description
The IT Geotechnical Analyst works directly with the GGRE community to ensure all IT and GGRE business project deliverables fall within the scope and budget to the project. They will also coordinate within the respective departments and with vendors to ensure project schedule is maintained, IT requirements are upheld, and the project solutions are in line with both the business and company goals. This role is part of the Global GGRE IT Business Partner Organization.


The IT Geotechnical Analyst is accountable for building and maintaining relationships with GGRE project owners and vendors; understanding both GGRE and IT requirements, facilitating communication across disciplines, and ensuring that IT projects are executed in line with the GGRE and IT business expectations. This position represents the GGRE project needs when working within IT and advocates IT policies, strategies, processes and practices when working with the GGRE project owners.


Responsibilities may include:
  • Working with GGRE project owners to understand business needs
  • Converting business project requirements and plans into actionable IT services
  • Translating business needs/strategies into IT requirements and source IT services to meet requirements (current and future)
  • Understanding business processes end-to-end, actively measuring business contribution of enabling systems, and initiating improvement to the process and/or systems
  • Communication with the Business Unit on IT services, costs and needs
  • Defining the road map for IT tools and services in line with both business and IT requirements
  • Handling the IT project portfolio and Long-Range Plan for the organization
  • Working with business and IT resources to define IT projects and complete project planning (Front End Loading – FEL) activities
  • Perform as Project Manager on IT projects where appropriate
  • Defining IT system performance metrics
  • Handling the monthly IT costs for the organization against the current budget
  • Providing input to the budgeting process and obtaining BU alignment
  • Defining service level requirements, value, demand and costs
  • Communicate IT Service performance metrics
  • Ensure funding approval for IT projects
  • Working with the business units and internal IT groups to document and sign off on SLAs
  • Handling a detailed business specific software portfolio, including vendor relationships, negotiations, industry group interactions and long-term strategies
  • Defining and managing business unit role-based software usage for planning and budgeting
  • Influencing customer demand

Basic/Required:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • 5+ years of Geoscience support or interpretation experience
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Geosciences, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools

Preferred:
  • Experience working with Geoscience Data and familiarity with Geoscience workflows and problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee multiple projects
